Beginner/ Intermediate Day Camp Ages 7 - 14 July 24 - 28, 2023 9am to 3pm daily
This camp is a great introduction to the world of horses, or a continuation of the basic skills that have already been started in riding classes or a previous camp.
Each day, the campers will enjoy one riding lesson, as well as other activities such as horse theory (eg. what do horses need to survive), crafts and games.
On Friday, beginning at 1:30pm, we host a parents afternoon where families and friends are invited to watch their child ride in their lesson. This is a great time for the kids to show their families what they've learned over the course of the week, introduce them to the horses and for parents to talk to staff about their child's camp. A Progress Report is sent home with Instructor comments to let the parent know how the child did! With safety being the central focus, campers will explore the following areas of riding skill development at this camp:
Grooming & Caring for a horse
Stable Management - caring for the space we use & horses equipment
Developing balance at the walk & trot on the horse
Safe Arena spacing & riding etiquette
Learning basic steering cues with the natural aids (seat, legs, hands & eyes)
Developing coordination through use of obstacles & games in the riding lesson
